Victims of poison gas Bombardment in Bitola during the First World War



The period from 1912-1918 is the most tragic period of the Macedonian people, when Macedonia was hit by two Balkan and The First World War.
As a direct consequence of these wars, were the severe pandemics and deadly infectious diseases, which even had far greater number of victims compared to deaths from military actions.
The number of direct and indirect victims even today is unknown, but according to some statistics, only in the First World War in Macedonia died from 16- 30% of the total population, which is the highest rate of casualties during the First World War.
