During the First World War there was a hospital in this
village, which resulted in a large number of graves located at various
locations near the village of Dobroveni. After the end of the war, most of the
graves were moved to the present location.
The military cemetery is divided in two separate fenced areas.
The iron bars used for the fence of the cemeteries, originate from the railway
for the small train (narrow line) used to supply the Entante armies in this
part of the front, which was also used after the end of World War I, for
transport of coal from the mines near the village of Zhivojno.
The monument of the Serbian Postman
Within the upper area of the military cemetery, there is a
monument which does not differ much from others, but the story related to it is
particularly interesting. It’s the monument dedicated to the Serbian Postman,
who during the First World War.
During the First World War in the village Dobroveni, a military post
office of the Serbian army was located. Nearly all members of this post office died as a result of the bombing by
the German aviation on November 29, 1916.
After the end of the war, a monument was erected on the site
by their friends postmen, which read: „Овај им споменик подигоше другови“ (This
monument was erected by their friends).
From the old photos it can be seen that today this monument
is dislocated from the original location and is located in the military Serbian
cemetery, next to the village cemetery in Dobroveni village.
